Project Goal: Measure work-in-process hides to aid in sorting into six categories.

NOVA Solution: A PC/Data acquisition board with code written in C was used to develop the custom thickness-measuring system. One of two wringer machines was selected, each having two message displays to show the grade to the operators. LVDTs were used to collect the raw data and statistical analysis identified the appropriate grade. Daily production data was uploaded to an AS400.
