Project Goal: Replace the controls on a precision slicing machine to the customer's preferred manufacturer
and make custom modifications to the OEM machine.
NOVA Solution: The new system was redesigned using a PLC for digital I/O, a servo for the spindle, a 2-axis
CNC for the cutting table and a PC-based NT HMI interface. Ethernet communications were used to
communicate between the PLC and the HMI to increase the data transfer speed. Both accuracy and precision
were improved, which greatly increased the yield of acceptable product.
